Director General, Klaipeda State Seaport Authority
Mr. A. Latakas has an engineering background and holds a Master's degree from Vilnius Engineering Construction Institute. He also graduated from the International Maritime Academy in Italy, specialising in the handling of dangerous goods. During the two decades of his professional career, Mr Latakas held various managerial positions in one of the largest stevedoring companies in Klaipeda, KLASCO. He was responsible for the construction and operation of port terminals and headed the LNG terminal construction group. Prior to joining Klaipeda State Seaport Authority, Mr.Latakas was the co-owner and General Manager of a maritime business consulting company, which established new and maintained trade relations with Lithuania and Eastern European countries.
In 2020, Mr. A. Latakas was appointed as the Director General of Klaipeda State Seaport Authority and now is responsible for the overall management of Klaipeda Port and implementation of Lithuania's maritime policy.
